Steps in cataract surgery
- A minor hole or incision will be made using the PHACO machine or blade respectively.
- The cataract lens will be removed, and the artificial lens (IOL) will be implanted.
- No stitches are required, as the hole or the incision is so small.
- After surgery, a bandage will be placed over the eye for protection.
- The bandage or patch is removed after few hours and patient is given black pair of glasses to wear for protection.
- The surgery procedure usually takes around 10 to 12 minutes
